In a thread of Truth Social posts Trump gave his hot take on Gov. Ron DeSantis’ election win. He called DeSantis “average” and claimed DeSantis won the 2018 election because Trump intervened. He referred to DeSantis as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State,” Trump wrote.
Trump said DeSantis approached him in 2017 for campaign help.
“Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead. . . he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump wrote.
Trump described his role in the 2018 election.
“I also fixed his campaign. . . when votes were being stolen by the corrupt Election process in Broward County. . . I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys,” Trump wrote, “I stopped his Election from being stolen.”
Finally, Trump expressed his views on DeSantis’ statement about his future plans.
“Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,’” Trump wrote, “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer…”
DeSantis has not commented on Trump’s statements.
At a rally in Iowa earlier this month, Trump alluded to announcing a third run for presidency on the 14th. Inside sources told NBC the timing, location and format of the announcement are not set in stone.
"In order to make our country successful, and safe and glorious, I will very, very, very probably do it again,” Trump said.
